Waxing

Waxing Process

Waxing is the process of removing the hair from the root. It may take 3-4 weeks before the hair is ¼ inch long, in most people. ¼ inch is the minimum length needed to wax again.

  • Strip Wax

A piece of muslin fabric 3 x 9 is pressed into the wax and the whole strip is pulled off, grabbing the wax & hair in one transfer. Strip wax is used for large areas like, arms, back, chest & legs.

    • If needed Tim will trim hair shorter prior to waxing.
    • Tend skin may be applied to minimize irritation & disinfect the skin.
    • Tend Skin is a liquid aspirin/alcohol solution used to reduce irritation.
    • Powder is applied then wax is applied.
    • After all is waxed antiseptic products will be applied to calm and treat the skin this process is used for most areas.
  • Hard Wax

It is designed to be less irritating to the area by- shrinking away from the body; hard wax traps the hair and leaves the skin, therefore removing less skin in the pull off action, therefore less pain & irritation. Also known as Strip-less Waxing.

    • Wax is heated and brought to optimum temperature.
    • Wax is spread evenly onto the unwanted hair area
    • After it is set for recommended time period wax will be removed, in one quick motion in the opposite direction of the hair growth
  • Numbing products

The use of numbing agents to help reduce pain can be used. Tim uses a Benzocaine product. These products can also be purchased on line and applied at home prior to your waxing to enable a more enjoyable waxing experience of sensitive areas.

    • Chest is more pain full to wax than bikini. Tim recommends if possible to purchase “No Scream Cream” available on Amazon- apply at home.
    • This product works best on on the skin for 30 minutes prior to waxing.
    • If you are having more than one area waxed like Back and Butt then you will have enough time for the cream to be applied in the office, to the bikini area.

Men’s Bikini Wax

The area is trimmed and numbing cream is usually applied. 15-30 minutes later we wax using Hard Wax. Some melted hard wax will be put into a separate cup, when at the correct temp it is applied to the bikini area in small strips, the size of a 1-inch x 3-inch area. I usually do 2-3 strips. The wax hardens in 1-3 minutes. The skin is pulled tight and the wax is pulled off. I always offer the client the option to stop and just trim the area if the pain is too much. 95% of people say “not bad at all”. I think guys think this is going to hurt because we have all been kicked in the crotch. Waxing is not that kind of nerve pain. It also will have minimal pain sensation after waxing. Pain occurs only when the wax is being pulled off.

After the waxing is complete an after waxing product will be applied to calm sooth relax the area. Usually Neosporin cream. Bikini waxing takes 30 minutes.
